Hekas hekas estes bebeloi!

Away, away be ye all negative spirits that would harm the sanctity of this rite. I call upon all helpful spirits, Deities, and ancestors: Watch over my working, opening the household so that the power of the Agathos Daimon can come forward and the ancient and shining ones be present. Protect all members of the household until the ritual is concluded.

Light incense

Come to me, you from the four winds, ruler of all, who breathed the spirit of life into all persons, whose is the hidden and unspeakable name. At whose name even the daimons, when hearing, are terrified. Of whom heaven is head, ether body, earth feet, and the environment water: the Agathos Daimon. You are the ocean, begetter of good things and feeder of the civilized world. Yours is the eternal processional way. Your seven-lettered name is established for the harmony of the seven sounds of the planets which utter their voices according to the twenty-nine forms of the moon.

Your name and your spirit rest upon the good. Come into my mind and my understanding for all the time of my life and accomplish for me all the desires of my soul. For you are I, and I, you. Whatever I say must happen, for I have your name in my heart and no flesh will overpower me; no spirit will stand against me—neither daimon, nor visitation, nor any evil being, because of your name, which I have in my soul and invoke.

  • Facing east with both hands to the left: Vibrate A (Aaah)
  • Facing north, with right fist out: Vibrate E (Eeeh)
  • Facing west extending both hands forward: Vibrate Ē (Aaay)
  • Facing south hands on stomach: Vibrate I (Eeee)
  • To the earth, hands touching toes: Vibrate O (Oooh)
  • Looking into the air, hand on heart: Vibrate Y (Ouuu)
  • To the sky, both hands on head: Vibrate Ō (Aaww)

I call on you, eternal and unbegotten, who are one, who alone hold together the whole creation of all things, whom none understand, whom the gods worship, whose name not even the gods can utter. Accomplish for me this petition.

O blessed Aphrodite, servant of the Agathos Daimon, you whose hand is this moment, who rules over this day, bring your light to me!

Light the candle

Heavenly, illustrious, laughter-loving queen, sea-born, night-loving, of an awful mien;
Crafty, from whom necessity first came, producing, nightly, all-connecting dame:
‘Tis thine the world with harmony to join, for all things spring from thee, O power divine.
The triple Fates are ruled by thy decree, and all productions yield alike to thee:
Whatever the heavens, encircling all contain, earth fruit-producing, and the stormy main,
Thy sway confesses, and obeys thy nod, awful attendant of the brumal God:
Goddess of marriage, charming to the sight, mother of Loves, whom banquetings delight;
Source of persuasion, secret, favoring queen, illustrious born, apparent and unseen:
Spousal, lupercal, and to men inclined, prolific, most-desired, life-giving, kind:
Great sceptre-bearer of the Gods, ‘tis thine, mortals in necessary bands to join;
And every tribe of savage monsters dire in magic chains to bind, thro’ mad desire.
Come, Cyprus-born, and to my prayer incline, whether exalted in the heavens you shine,
Or pleased in Syria’s temple to preside, or over the Egyptian plains thy car to guide,
Fashioned of gold; and near its sacred flood, fertile and famed to fix thy blest abode;
Or if rejoicing in the azure shores, near where the sea with foaming billows roars,
The circling choirs of mortals, thy delight, or beauteous nymphs, with eyes cerulean bright,
Pleased by the dusty banks renowned of old, to drive thy rapid, two-yoked car of gold;
Or if in Cyprus with thy mother fair, where married females praise thee every year,
And beauteous virgins in the chorus join, Adonis pure to sing and thee divine;
Come, all-attractive to my prayer inclined, for thee, I call, with holy, reverent mind.

The consort I invoke of Zeus divine, source of the holy, sweetly-speaking Nine;
Free from the oblivion of the fallen mind, by whom the soul with intellect is joined:
Reason’s increase, and thought to thee belong, all-powerful, pleasant, vigilant, and strong:
‘Tis thine, to waken from lethargic rest all thoughts deposited within the breast;
And nought neglecting, vigorous to excite the mental eye from dark oblivion’s night.
Come, blessed power, thy mystic’s memory wake to holy rites, and Lethe’s fetters break.

Wise Mnemosyne, I ask that you sharpen my wit and mind that I can always see the many paths to my goal. That I know what to do and how problems are best solved for the benefit of me and my household.

Please, Aion, ruler of hope, giver of wealth, O holy Agathos Daimon, bring to fulfillment all favors.

I have been attached to your holy form
I have been given power by your holy name
I have acquired your emanation of the goods
Lord, god of gods, master, daimon

For you are I, and I, you. Whatever I say must happen, for I have your name in my heart and no flesh will overpower me; no spirit will stand against me—neither daimon nor visitation nor any evil being, because of your name, which I have in my soul. For yours is the eternal processional way. Your seven-lettered name is established for the harmony of the seven sounds of the planets which utter their voices according to the twenty-nine forms of the moon.

I give thanks to you Mnemosyne
I give thanks to you Aphrodite
I give thanks to you Agathos Daimon

Go away, go away; into your own heavens, into your own palaces, into your own courses. Keep me healthy, unharmed, not plagued by evil spirits, free from calamity and without terror. Hear me during my lifetime.
