Ninjutsu Weapons Glossary

An incomplete list of weapons employed in Ninjutsu:

Katana: 刀, iconic Japanese single sided curved blade. Although famous for slicing, a formidable stabbing weapon.

Wakazashi: 脇差, literally 'side arm', a shorter blade worn by samurai alongside their katana.

Tanto: 短刀, literally 'short sword', a dagger.

Yari: 槍, a spear.

Bo: 棒, a staff, typically six feet long.

Jo: a short staff, or walking switch, about armpit to eye height.

Hanbo: 半棒, literally half-staff, a short stick.
