Make Everything Software

Dear Matt,

Software. Firmware. Hardware. We define these terms on a relative basis, based on how difficult we consider it to modify the thing. To U, a programmer, 'software' seems soft, moldable, easy to change. To a plumber, pipes look like software, whereas U might currently consider them hardware.

With the right mindset and tools, the material world looks every bit as malleable as the abstract world. As the software world has turned into reassembling nanobot quicksand that shape shifts at the merest thought of the user, U could do well to turn your sights upon the physical and consider how U would modify it to suit your aims.

Beware though, as U go about changing the world, allow too the world to change your mind. If your mind becomes like hardware, then U will surely die of stasis. Remember to accept and direct.
